Fida Hussain Tangrhong
Founder & Managing Director
Fida Hussain Tangrong is the Founder and CEO of Ladakh Backpackers, a locally rooted travel company committed to creating meaningful, responsible, and immersive travel experiences in Ladakh. A travel researcher by training, Fida holds a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, with a focus on travel writings and the cultural history of Ladakh. He also holds a Master’s degree in German Literature and Cultural Studies, which adds a strong cross cultural perspective to his work in tourism. A passionate traveller himself, Fida believes deeply in the philosophy of meaningful and sustainable travel, where journeys are designed with respect for local culture, communities, and fragile environments. All itineraries at Ladakh Backpackers are personally curated by Fida to ensure that each travel experience goes beyond conventional sightseeing and offers depth, authenticity, and meaningful engagement. Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Fida is an adventure enthusiast who enjoys spending time in the outdoors. He is often found riding downhill trails on his mountain bike or exploring nearby mountain peaks, maintaining a close connection with the landscapes that inspire his work.
Padma Rigzin
Operations Manager
Padma Rigzin is the Operations Manager at Ladakh Backpackers and plays a key role in ensuring that every journey runs smoothly and seamlessly. He holds a Master’s degree in History from Punjab University, which gives him a strong understanding of the region’s past and cultural landscape. Known for his exceptional mechanical skills and practical problem-solving ability, Padma is often described as the person who has a solution for almost everything. From vehicle logistics to on-ground coordination, he ensures that all operational aspects of Ladakh Backpackers function efficiently, allowing guests to enjoy a safe, comfortable, and trouble-free travel experience. An avid motorbike enthusiast, Padma has an intimate knowledge of Ladakh’s roads, terrain, and high-altitude conditions. In his spare time, he also enjoys climbing and spending time in the mountains, further strengthening his connection with the landscapes he helps others explore.
Shahnaz Parveen
Guest Relations Manager
Shahnaz Parveen is an integral member of the Ladakh Backpackers team, bringing strong academic training and professional experience in tourism and hospitality. She holds an MBA in Tourism and Hospitality from the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Hyderabad, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Sustainable Tourism Marketing with a focus on the Himalayan regions. With several years of experience in the tourism sector, Shahnaz contributes valuable expertise in sustainable tourism practices, destination marketing, and responsible travel planning. Her work is guided by a deep understanding of how tourism can be developed in ways that balance economic growth with environmental protection and community wellbeing. At Ladakh Backpackers, she plays an important role in shaping responsible tourism strategies and strengthening the company’s commitment to sustainability through informed marketing and research driven insights.
Shakil Ahmed
Tour Manager & Driver (Kashmir)
Shakil Ahmed is the Tour Manager for Kashmir at Ladakh Backpackers and oversees all travel operations across the Kashmir Valley up to Vaishno Devi. With a strong understanding of the region and years of on ground experience, he ensures that every journey in Kashmir is well coordinated, smooth, and memorable. A skilled driver himself, Shakil has an in depth knowledge of Kashmir’s terrain, routes, and travel conditions, which allows him to manage logistics efficiently and respond quickly to any on tour requirements. His calm approach and operational expertise play a key role in delivering seamless travel experiences. Known for his polite, humble nature and warm hospitality, Shakil consistently wins the hearts of travellers with his welcoming smile and attentive management style. His dedication and people oriented approach reflect Ladakh Backpackers’ commitment to providing thoughtful and well managed journeys across the region.
Ghulam Sagar
Transport Manager & Driver
Ghulam Sagar is the Senior Driver and Transport Manager at Ladakh Backpackers, and is one of the most experienced and trusted members of the team. With an in depth knowledge of Ladakh’s mountainous terrain, high altitude routes, and remote valleys, he ensures safe and comfortable journeys across the region. Widely regarded as one of the top rated drivers in Ladakh, Ghulam Sagar is known for his exceptional driving skills and calm professionalism on challenging roads. Beyond driving, he also guides travellers by sharing insights about the places they visit, making every journey informative and engaging. He is often described as a hospitality expert on wheels, always attentive to the comfort and needs of guests. In addition to managing on ground transport operations, he oversees and coordinates all drivers within the team and plays a key role in recruiting and training some of the best drivers in Ladakh. His leadership ensures that Ladakh Backpackers maintains the highest standards of safety, reliability, and service throughout every journey.
